Top 5 Hong Kong Pools

With sweeping harbour views and an inspiring backdrop of the city’s skyline, there are few places more spectacular than the luxury hotel Regent Hong Kong’s pool. The high-ceilinged venue is perfect for leisurely swims, practising a few laps and chilling in the sunshine. And with an expansive menu of fresh bites and drinks, you can make a day of it and enjoy a truly relaxing experience.

While the coronavirus restrictions on beaches and swimming pools have been lifted, it’s not yet safe to swim in a public pool, particularly in the wake of a possible staff shortage. And while the majority of public pools will be open this summer, nearly half will close lanes or facilities reserved for swimming instruction due to a lack of lifeguards, according to the Hong Kong Recreation and Sports Professionals General Union. The union’s chairman, Lee Yuet-man, said many pools told clubs that they would be notified of their time slots four months before the summer season began, but he added there was no guarantee the classes would take place.

Designed by Terry Farrell and opened to the public in February along Victoria Harbour, this spaceship-type complex is certainly one of the most eye-catching pools you’ll find in the Chinese Special Administrative Region. Taking eight years to come to fruition, the pool is not only a stunning sight to behold but is also a great option for those looking for a low-impact exercise that burns calories and helps boost your mood.

And although the pool is closed from 1 November to 31 March every year for maintenance, it’s still worth a visit just to see this show-stopping waterside destination in person. The impressive design is reminiscent of a Roman palace, complete with statuesque columns and an exceptional layout. And for those who want to relax and soak up the sun, the spacious deck and cabanas are just as tempting as the inviting waters.

This destination public pool is a favourite amongst families and boasts a number of fun features for all ages. From water slides and a pirate-themed splash zone to an aqua tunnel, a climbing frame and water shooters, there’s something for everyone at this enchanting aquatic paradise.

The water is not as clear as the surrounding landscape, but this beautiful pool is still worth a visit. The large pool is divided into sections to accommodate different age groups, and there’s even a lane dedicated to swimmers who are training for a competition. And with a restaurant and lounge area on-site, it’s a great spot to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
